The Rare Disease that Causes Autism

I this article caught my eye because I have two little sisters who are autism. Apparently there is a rare disease called "williams syndrome" which is responsible for the onslaught of autism. This is a genetic disorder and it supposedly is noticeable even as the child is an infant. I am wondering how long this has been public news and whether or not it can be prevented. I want to do more research and find out.
